D4C is an all around studio buff. As an artist, producer & sound engineer, he has done it all. Within the last 2 decades, he has made his mark on the urban gospel scene in Australia, and his impact within the industry is undeniable.

D4C is part of a ministry called "The Commission" that travels around Australia, performing and speaking to youth, teens and adults, reaching out to those in need.

D4C also is a member of the team that runs Krosswerdz QLD. D4C helps the proceedings and running of Krosswerdz QLD, and is the team leader. Krosswerdz is a community ministry built to reach people through Hip Hop primarily & to lend support & guidance.

Bringing a positive attitude wherever he goes, D4C is a role model for young people and has had amazing opportunities to speak into the lives of many, and while uplifting the culture of hip hop through his musical talents, he has also found solace within the culture - music is his therapy.

D4C has performed and spoken both nationally and internationally in concerts, festivals, conferences, churches, town halls, prisons, juvenile detention centres, cafes, schools and parks... anywhere he can promote a positive message and share grace, love and hope.

Early life and education

He was born on 1st July 1983, in Kew, Victoria.

He grew up with parents Stephen & Maria. Has two siblings Lance & Stephanie. Along with lots of foster brothers & sisters over the years.

He is an Aboriginal Australian of the Ngarigo people from his fathers side. He is also German & Italian from his mothers side.

He grew up in Frankston, Victoria until he was around 11. The family then moved to Pearcedale, Victoria before moving to the Gold Coast, Queensland when he was 14 in January 1998.

He was a student at Benowa State High School, where he focused primarily on playing basketball, with dreams to play professionally.

After graduating grade 12 in 2000, He enrolled into Bible College at Dream Centre Christian Church in Carrrara, Queensland during 2001-2002. Where he received a Certificate III in Bible Studies & Pastoral Care.

He then worked in multiple different jobs before landing a permanent & full time job as an educator for Early Learning. Where he studied & received a Diploma of Children's Services. As well as parts of the Advanced Diploma of Children's Services.

Music

2001-2003:

2001 is when Pugz began playing around with music & producing beats for other artists. Kimbo was the main artist he produced music for. Kimbo gained some attention with her raw & energetic rap style & was invited to perform at the Australian Gospel Music Festival (eventually known as Easterfest) in Toowoomba, Queensland.

He travelled to Thailand in 2001 & 2002 on missions trips with the Dream Centre Youth Group. Where he performed the songs "In The End" & "Somewhwere I Belong" by Linkin Park, and "Lose Yourself" by Eminem (with edited lyrics), to schools & churches they visited over there, marking the first time he performed in front of crowds.

In 2003, Kimbo stopped doing music, so Pugz stopped making music actively afterwards.

2009:

After going through a basketball career ending injury, a break up & divorce, he fell back into music as a way of building up his spirits & get his mind off of all negativity & found a way to deal with all the drama that was happening in his life. He started with the rap name pUGz, but changed it to D4C, which means "Disciple 4 Christ." He began producing beats again for other artists and kept a few to the side and began writing his own music. He wrote a song called "Reality" which he recorded live on his camcorder & put onto Youtube & Myspace on March 6th 2009, which gained quite a lot of positive response & messages telling him to continue on & keep making music.

He began attending a church called Generation Church in Varsity Lakes, Queensland, where he met up with old childhood friend Russell, who was a rapper also known as Prolifik.

He continue to work on new music & released "He Is..." via a live Youtube video, which was a totally different style of rapping that many hadn't heard before, and the song gained some notoriety. He then released "Peer Pressure" which is about his life growing up & not falling for the peer pressure from others. He then released "Brighter Days" which some said was his best song so far at the time. All produced by D4C himself, but with help in the mixing & mastering from his brother Lance who is an audio engineer.

He began working on more songs and an album, but put that on hold when he teamed up with Prolifik & his brother Limerick to form the rap group Cross Paths. They began making some incredible music from Limerick's lounge room in Southport, Queensland & they released the singles "Look At Us Now," "Step To The Front" & "Lullaby."

They were invited to perform on the 1st August 2009 at the Nerang Bicentenial Hall for the "Agape" concert by the Captivated Dance company. This was their first live performance together as a group and D4C's first performance in Australia ever.

Cross Paths then folded, so D4C focused on his solo album from there on.

So with hunger to make more music; in 2 weeks, He completed the demo of his album "Brighter Days", which he recorded in his bedroom & began selling CD's & downloads on Bandcamp. All CD's he got duplicated were sold out.

After the release of Brighter Days, he was asked to perform the title track at White Ribbon Day at Salk Oval, in Palm Beach, Queensland.

D4C kept making music & began working on a mixtape where he remixed popular songs with his own lyrics & released "Forever" which was a remix of Drake's song of the same name, featuring Kanye West, Lil Wayne & Eminem, which gained some traction on Youtube & Datpiff.com.

He was invited to perform the song at Amped North Islander Night.

After the passing of one his cousins, D4C released the song "Paradise (The Tribute)", which he performed live at her funeral as a spoken word poem.

In 2009, D4C founded & registered the record label "413 Records" (originally known as D4C Productions)

2010:

He was invited to perform at Genesiz's "Redemption" album launch in Penrith, New South Wales on 6th February 2010.

This was the first time meeting Genesiz who was the mind behind the crew The Commission

Prolifik from Cross Paths came back to make music, so Cross Paths was reborn with D4C & Prolifik as the crew. They began work on their group album "The Reason." Pugz moved in with Prolifik in Helensvale, Queensland, which is where the album was created.

"The Reason" was released in March 2010, with cd's being available in Koorong Christian Bookstores, which was a real eye opener that it was a reality. Pugz & Prolifik held an album launch at Generation North Campus and then went on an Australia East Coast tour through Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney & Melbourne over the following months promoting the album & performing at numerous Youth Groups, churches & community events.
