DAC (legal name DAC Group) is an international digital media agency headquartered in Toronto, Canada. DAC provides services including search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), display advertising, local search (offered as Local Presence Management), content strategy, strategic insights, design (encompassing communication design, web design, and UX design), web development, and data analytics. It specializes in providing these services to national and international businesses with distributed local footprints.

DAC has more than 400 employees worldwide, with Canadian offices in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, and U.S. offices in New York, Chicago, Louisville, and Rochester. In 2015–2017, DAC expanded overseas through acquisitions in London,[1] Edinburgh,[2] Munich, and Dresden,[3] a new office in Paris, and joint ventures in Madrid and Barcelona.[4]

1972: Directory Advertising Consultants (DAC) is founded.

1979: DAC opens its Vancouver office.

1982: DAC opens its Montreal office.

1989: DAC acquires Ads Inc. in Cleveland, Ohio.

1990: DAC becomes DAC Group. In 2018, the company reverts to DAC for public-facing contexts, but DAC Group remains its legal name.

1992: DAC acquires Broome Marketing in Louisville, Kentucky.[5]

1996: Norm Hagarty joins DAC from Pepsi as President of DAC Group Canada.

1997: DAC acquires Hutchins in Rochester, New York.

2001: DAC acquires Ogilvy and Mather's directory business in New York.

2014: DAC opens its Chicago office on the Magnificent Mile.

2015: DAC expands beyond North America by acquiring Make It Rain digital marketing agency in London, UK.[6]

2016: DAC acquires Ambergreen Marketing in Edinburgh, UK.[7]

2016: DAC acquires German agency Ad xMedia.[8]

2016: DAC signs a joint-venture partnership with Moroch in Dallas, Texas.

2017: DAC signs a joint-venture partnership with Infinity Media in Spain.[9]

DAC's landing page engagement with Sylvan Learning is awarded Best Education Online Campaign at the Web Marketing Association's 2016 Internet Advertising Competition.[11]

DAC is also named Forward Thinking Strategy Award Winner at the DialogTech Digital Summit.[12]

2017[edit]

DAC's paid search campaign for Bridgestone Retail won the Best Paid Search Campaign (Agency/Consultant) award at the 2017 SEMPO Global Awards.[13] The same campaign won at the 2017 Kenshoo Infinity Awards,[14] was awarded Best Local SEM Initiative at Search Engine Land's 2017 Landy Awards,[15] and was named a finalist at the 2017 Drum Search Awards USA.[16]

DAC's content marketing engagement with Quill was named a finalist at the 2017 Finny Killer Content Awards.[17]

DAC's paid search campaign for Bridgestone Retail was named a finalist in the Best PPC Campaign category at The Drum Search Awards USA.[18]
