About DAV School[edit]

DAV Senior Secondary School was established in 1942 in the Sriganganagar City of present day Rajasthan state of India. It was earlier known as Bhopalwala Arya Senior Secondary School which was later renamed as DAV Senior Secondary School.

History of School[edit]

It is not very old that about 60-65 years ago, only thick vegetation like Aak, Bui, Lana, Kair, Kikar, Khejri were visible on the dry and thirsty land of Ganganagar district. Sand dunes far away. A black and yellow dusty storm that lasted non-stop for weeks. Extreme heat in summer and severe cold in winter. The occasional sight of angry clouds and a few people trying to survive while fighting in these desert conditions. A few villages and a total of four-five small towns at a distance from the treasury. This district was the northern part of the earlier Bikaner princely state.

Due to the tireless efforts of Maharaja Ganga Singh ji, the water of Sutlej river reached this area through Gang canal , as if new life had been infused. The combination of people's hard work, nectar-like life-giving water and fertile land immediately bore fruit. Lush fields, markets full of grains, new villages, towns and cities started emerging throughout the irrigated area. Along with prosperity, lamps of light and centers of learning also started twinkling here and there.

Ignorance is the root of suffering. The darkness of ignorance can be dispelled only by lighting the lamp of education. Inspired by this idea of Maharishi Swami Dayanand Saraswati, the hardworking social workers of Arya Samaj established schools, colleges and Gurukuls in every corner of the country. The main objective of these educational institutions has been to provide opportunities to students to gain knowledge of modern knowledge, science and technology in an environment steeped in Indian culture. To achieve this objective, some enthusiastic workers of the local Arya Samaj had the courage to light a small lamp in the form of Arya Primary School in 1942. Transforming barren land into fertile fields was no less difficult task. He went from door to door and explained the importance of education. Persuading illiterate parents to send their children to school; Finding teachers for schools; To raise money from house to house, village to village by mobilizing for their salary; The establishment and running of schools by collecting every paisa, ninety-one, fifty-eight rupees of grain, whatever was available, was indeed a litmus test for those great social workers and all of them stood true to it as Kundan.

In 1945 it became a middle school and in 1950 it became a DAV high school. Land was purchased outside the town for a school building. Around this time, Justice Pandit Trilochan Dutt Bhardwaj retired from Rajasthan High Court and took over as the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the institution. Shri moolraj Paliwal, resident of SriKaranpur announced to donate their refugee claim of Rs 2.5 lakh for the construction of a new building of the school. He got this claim to compensate for the loss of the private high school built in his previous town, Bhopal district, Sialkot, in Pakistan. However, the government paid only Rs 50 thousand for this claim. In this way, the construction of the new building of the school started. In 1962, the school was upgraded to the Higher Secondary School level and it was shifted to a new building in the name of Bhopalwala Arya Higher Secondary School.
