DESIblitz is a multi-award-winning[1] UK based web magazine providing a unique experience of News, Gossip and Gupshup with a Desi twist! [2]
The term 'Desi' indicates the connection with South Asian Subcontinent roots. It is obtained from the word 'des' or 'desh' meaning 'country' and in this case primarily India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. 'Desi' appears as a collective term which classifies culture and people from these countries.
DESIblitz covers a wide variety of lifestyle topics, including British Asian and South Asian news, coverage of Film and TV including Bollywood, a look into the world of Arts and Culture [3], vibes and melodies in Music and Dance, debatable subject matters in Taboo, trends of the Fashion of South Asia, tips and tricks of Health and Beauty[4], mouth-watering Food[5] recipes and origins, Sports news and exclusive competitions.
They carried out many brilliant interviews with South Asian celebrities and talents.
DESIblitz have also produced some documentaries which cover touching content and topics.
The Reality of Partition - The Impact of Independence on Birmingham and the Black Country[6] is a documentary which covers the exploration of the reality of the Partition of India and Pakistan. To mark 70 years, Aidem Digital, parent company of DESIblitz produced this special documentary, showing the impact on those who lived through this time as their transition to settling in the United Kingdom.
From Africa To Britain - This project covers "personal stories of those who made new lives in Birmingham and the Black Country. These personal accounts reflect on themes of loss, discovery, courage, and often success, broadly highlighting the contribution of the South Asian community to the economic and cultural diversity of the region".[7]
