DEVBEEF was founded in 2019 with the name 0xDEVBEEF. 0xDEVBEEF was a reference to 0xDEADBEEF, which is Hexspeak for a software crash on the IBM RS/6000. Later that year, the company was renamed to DEVBEEF before the launch of Watching Paint Dry: The Game.
