DJ Erycom

DJ Erycom (real names) Mutebi Erycom is an African DJ / African jockey, born in Kampala, Uganda on 9th October 1989 at Nsambya HospitalNsambya Hospital. He is the second and last born in a nuclear family of two children. His mother is a business woman while his father is a politician. DJ Erycom is a resident of Busega, Rubaga Division in Kampala Kampala District.

Erycom attended DK Educational Hill School in Namasuba Entebbe Road for his primary education, Lubiri Secondary School for his O'Level education and Mityana Secondary School Namukozi for his Advanced Certificate Education. He was a very good student in Biology, [1], Mathematics and [2]. In the year 2007, he enrolled at Kampala International University Kampala International University for a Bachelor's Degree in Information & Communications Technology.

Career

In his first year at University, Erycom got interest in music, a thing that forced him to start a music shop / library at Cooper Complex, down town Kampala where he used to sell Ugandan music CDsCD compilations. It is through this music shop that many popular Ugandan musicians & music producers by then (Jose Chameleone, Abdu Mulaasi, Ragga Dee, Sylver Kyagulanyi, Betty Mpologoma, Eagles Production, Bobi Wine, Red Banton, Mega Dee, Jeckaki Band, etc) started recognising his passion for local music hence them (the musicians) turning Erycom's shop into a meeting place every evening.

In his second year at University, Erycom got so busy with music, and this made him miss so many course works hence him dropping University to concentrate on music. Early 2008, DJ Erycom had mastered the art and gained skills in DeejayingDeejaying. This was his breakthrough, and since then, Ugandans Ugandans started following him as the new kid on the block by then who had germinated to contribute towards the growth of the Ugandan Uganda music industry.

Since he already had connections and contacts with already famous musicians, it was so easy for him to always have new songs before any other DJ in Uganda. Almost all Ugandan artists would release their single tracks through Erycom. This is because, he established himself as a "Local DJ" who had passion for local music. Since then, DJ Erycom chose to brand himself as a "Local DJ" with a slogan "Remember Where You Got It First", since he was and still the source for every new song in town. In the year 2009, DJ Erycom was amongst the resident DJs at then ClubClub Volts along Najjanankumbi EntebbeEntebbe road. He also hosted the African[3] night every Saturday at Club Diplomat in Muyenga. Erycom has worked with WBS TV, NBS TV, SkyNet FM until 2010 when he opened up his own radio station "87.7 Ugandan Radio Dotcom"

In the year 2012, DJ Erycom was announced the best Deejay in Africa while at the Africa DJ Awards in South Africa.

Since then, DJ Erycom has turned out to be one of Uganda's top DJs and music promoters. He's the only DJ in East Africa who has been a guest DJ in more than 30 countries including, United Kingdom, Sudan, Germany, Zambia, USA, Sweden, Kenya, Norway, Tanzania, Russia, Sudan, Poland, Taiwan, South Africa, France, Zimbabwe, Denmark, Rwanda, Malaysia, Burundi, China, Congo, Japan, Dubai, Belgium, Egypt, Netherlands, Sierra Leone, Thailand, Malawi, Singapore etc.

In May 2014, popular Ugandan musician JoseJose Chameleone signed DJ Erycom as his official deejay. Also the same year, reggae music group MorganMorgan Heritage contracted Erycom as their official Deejay for their Europe & Sub Sahara tours,

DJ Erycom has contributed alot to the growth of the Ugandan music industry. He was the first Ugandan to create and own a YouTube YouTube channel in 2006. Erycom has used the power of internet internet to simply the promotion of Ugandan & African Music digitally. He's listed amongst the first three Ugandans who introduced Ugandan music online.

DJ Erycom is known for holding more international gigs than local gigs. This us based on the fact that, he mastered what his audience craves for. He has learned how to make people dance to mainly local music wherever he plays as a guest DJ making him the first Ugandan DJ to play 70% Ugandan Music on every event he hosts.
