DJ IcyFunk
Barry Joseph Sacks, Jr., also known by the stage name DJ IcyFunk (born July 10, 1994), is a Maryland-born American House DJ, socialite and performance artist in poi spinning, hula hoop and rope dart. He is currently based out of Washington, D.C. and deeply influenced by Disco House, Rave, LGBTQ and Drag subcultures within U.S. nightclub scenes.
Biography
Barry J. Sacks graduated from Laurel High School in 2012. During his young adult years, he was an active member in the Baltimore rave and dance scene, which was heavily influenced by New York City party promoters and cultural celebrities, including DJ Scotto, Michael Alig, and James St. James. Sacks currently holds a baccalaureate degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.[1]
Sacks, under the pseudonym DJ IcyFunk, plays with a primary expertise in Disco House, but has also been known to perform within a variety of genres, including dance, house, gabber, and pop. He currently plays as a resident DJ at The DC Eagle.[2][3] Through his quick rise and increased visibility in the club scenes, he has been known to DJ in highly publicized events, including the 47th anniversary of the DC Eagle, and has performed for numerous RuPaul's Drag Race contestants; most notably for the drag stars Willam.[4] and Delta Work [5]
