DMM is a manufacturer of climbing equipment, arborist and working-at-height safety equipment based in Llanberis, North Wales.[1][2] One of Wales' leading independent manufacturers, DMM manufactures from end to end – from raw materials to finished products. DMM is now the only UK manufacturer of climbing equipment still in production since Wild Country was bought by Salewa and moved production offshore in 2012.[3]

History

DMM's origins began in Bethesda in 1981 before relocating to Llanberis in 1986.[4][5] Of the original founders Denny Moorhouse, Fred Hall, Richard Cuthbertson MBE, Paul Simkiss, Fred Hall remains an active Director of the business.[6]

In 2008 NASA used DMM safety harnesses for their astronauts in the International Space Station.[7]

In 2016 DMM was awarded GOLD accreditation against the Investors in People Standard.[8] It is a significant local employer, for Gwynedd, employing over 200 staff.

During the first lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom, DMM manufactured medical supplies for the NHS.[9]
