Todd Rodgers
Todd Rodgers is an American high school football coach and athletic administrator who served as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Argyle High School in Argyle, Texas, from 2003 to 2025.[1][2] During his tenure, Argyle won two University Interscholastic League (UIL) state football championships and made multiple state championship game appearances.
Early coaching career
Rodgers began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Texas at Austin from 1990 to 1992, working with defensive backs and special teams.[2] During that period, Texas won a Southwest Conference championship and appeared in the 1991 Cotton Bowl Classic.
He later coached at several Texas high schools, including Somerville High School, Rosebud-Lott High School, and Rockwall High School. From 1994 to 2002, Rodgers served as an assistant coach at Flower Mound Marcus High School, including time as defensive coordinator and offensive coordinator. Marcus won the 1997 UIL Class 5A Division II state championship during his tenure.[3]
Argyle High School
Rodgers was hired as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Argyle High School in 2003.[1] Over 23 seasons as head coach, he compiled a 264–45 record.[4] From 2009 onward, Argyle posted a 219–22 record.[2]
Argyle qualified for the playoffs in 22 consecutive seasons under Rodgers and won 18 district championships.[2]
State championships
Rodgers led Argyle to two UIL state championships:
- 2013 – Class 3A (16–0), defeating Fairfield in the championship game.[5]
- 2020 – Class 4A Division I (16–0).[6]
Argyle reached the state championship game six times during his tenure (2005, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2020).[2]
Athletic administration
As Athletic Director, Rodgers oversaw Argyle ISD athletics during a period in which the district won 11 UIL Lone Star Cup championships, awarded annually to the top overall athletic program in each classification.[7] During his tenure, Argyle teams qualified for 65 state tournaments and won 22 team state championships across multiple sports.[8]
