DVRZ (Village of Darnytskyi Wagon Repair Plant) — is an area in the Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv. The name comes from the Darnytskyi Wagon Repair Plant. It is located in the eastern part of Darnytsia, mainly along the streets of Almatynska (after the railway overpass), Marganetska, Opryshkivska. The population is about 15,000 people. The microdistrict was established in 1934 as the village of Darnytskyi Depot (later DVRZ).
In 2004-2010, the intersection of Almaty Street and Senomansky Lane was built with residential buildings according to modern projects. The unofficial name of the new builds — Microdistrict 'Lisky'.[1]
Geography
History
The history of the village of Darnytskyi Wagon Repair Plant begins at the beginning of 1934, when the first barrack-dormitory for the plant's builders was built here. It existed under the popular name "Babkin barracks", in honor of the foreman of carpenters Ivan Tikhonovich Babkin, who oversaw the construction of this temporary dormitory. After the war, this barrack no longer existed.
Almost at the same time as the first house, the construction of residential buildings began along the DVRZ Highway - the future Almatynska Street. The oldest houses in the village are houses on Almatynska Street, No. 36, 36-A, 99, 103, 105, 111, 113, 115, Inzhenera Borodin, No. 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, Energodarska Street No. 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12/14, Makarenko, No. 4, 6.
Residential construction was carried out within the budget for industrial construction. Initially, the Civil Construction Project developed a project for the construction of the DVRZ village. According to this project, construction of the first quarter of the village with 2-story residential buildings was started. The first was a building at the current address of 105/2 Almatynska Street - it was completed in December 1934. Two multi-story buildings along Energodarska Street were built under the same project.
However, this project was immediately criticized: "This project interpreted the buildings in a fragmented way, not taking into account the internal improvement of the neighborhood. The silhouette of the street was not thought out at all, as a result the project did not create an ensemble of a new socialist town. In the future, the project of the town was completely redone, except for the already laid parts of the first quarter."
In 1935, according to a new project by architect B. Pritzker and engineer I. Himmelfarb, they began to build a settlement for employees of the Darnytskyi Car Repair Plant. The creators of the project determined the future population of the village at 20,000 residents and 180,000 square meters of living space.
The project provided for the possibility of setting up 2 roadways, a tram line, a boulevard and, most interestingly, a bicycle lane. This is the first project for the construction of a bicycle path in the city.
A quarter for medical institutions with a park for patients, a plot for a school with a sports ground and workshops was separately allocated.
