Da Bomb Video Show
Da Bomb Video Show was the first west coast Hip Hop music video show focused on local west coast artists. The program was started by three friends from Long Beach, Ca. Andre Murray, Denny Countee, and Manuel Porter, first airing on public access television in 1993 on Continental Cable is Los Angeles. The show featured local talent (mainly rappers and some fashion designers) as well as underground artists from outside of California like the Notorious B.I.G., Eminem, and Busta Rhymes. The show was eventually nominated for a Billboard award in 1999 [1]. Andre Murray left the show in 2002 and it continued under leadership of Denny Countee and Stephan Lunceford.
The show format was a daily 30 minute program that aired hosted interviews interlaced with hip hop music videos. In 1996, Da Bomb Video Show was included in Cox Communication's Local Origination (K Cox) line-up and produced a live 60 minute program with local call ins from residents "On the Hill" serving the communities of Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, and San Pedro. Live guests included; The Lady of Rage, All From the I, Richie Rich, Del The Funky Homosapien, and The Black Eyed Peas.
In the early 2000's record labels were uncertain about their positions on continuing video promotions with the popularity of the internet and new websites like YouTube. This cutback with video promotion budgets coincided with the decline of the show which eventually ended production in 2004. Da Bomb Video Show hosts included: Grand Slam (Denny Countee), Al-Ski (Al Taylor), Jollery Nichols, and DJ T-Stone (Eugene Franklin). DJ T-Stone is the brother of DJ Fatbox [2] who was the DJ for hip hop legend Coolio.
