Miron was born in Alba Iulia, Romania, right before the Romanian Revolution in a time of communism. After the Revolution, he moved with his parents to Deva, Romania, where he lived until he was 9 years old. His parents divorced a year later. Miron and his mother moved to the United States when he was ten years old in search of better opportunities. They had few family members in the States and it was a big transition for the two of them.
Miron began elementary school in Clearwater, Florida. His European accent made him an easy target for bullying from his classmates. He began taking English as a Second Language courses to try to fit in better and adapt to his new life in America. Middle school proved to be even harder, and as a result he tried joining the soccer team to try to fit in better. Even being part of a team proved to be a challenge for him, but he finally started to make new friends.
Miron’s high school years at Countryside High were when he first became interested in music. He still struggled with feeling accepted by most of his peers and spent his time playing video games and watching YouTube videos. His favorite videos were of early punk rock bands such as Blink-182 and Sum 41. Miron told his mother that he wanted to learn how to play the guitar, so she bought him an old acoustic Yamaha, which he still has to this day.
Career
Another Tragic Case
Miron’s first musical group, Another Tragic Case, formed from his appreciation for punk rock music. In this band, he sang lead vocals. He met the drummer, Matt Prosser, through MySpace and, on Prosser’s recommendation, they linked up with their new guitarist, Corey Fietz. The fourth and final member of their group was a bass player, Matt Kline. The group started covering All Time Low and played their first show at Neptune’s Lounge in Tarpon Springs. After playing several gigs throughout the Tampa Bay Area, the band broke up due to commitment issues and drug issues from some of the members.
The August Name
Miron and Fietz were still passionate about playing music and started a new project together called The August Name. They hired their drummer, Evander Lipps, through a Craigslist post. While the group started jamming, Miron decided he no longer wanted to sing in the group, but instead focus on instrumentation.
Lipps met their future vocalist, Ryan McGibbeny, through a Music Record Arts class at St. Petersburg College. McGibbeny tried out for the group and was immediately accepted.
In 2010, The August Name released a 3-song self-titled EP under the production of Lee Dyess. Dyess is best known for producing work for Mayday Parade, Go Radio, and I Set My Friends on Fire. After the release, the band began playing local sets in the Tampa Bay area. The band rose in popularity after opening for performers like AWOLNATION and appearing as a feature in local media such as the Tampa Bay Times and Creative Loafing.
The band went on their first official tour in 2011 with Count to Four (now known as Neverkept). The tour stretched from Tampa all the way up the East Coast to New York. In 2012, the band decided that their current sound was not the direction they wanted to take and they parted ways.
Solo Work & Not Tonight Josephine
Miron released his first single as a solo musician in 2013. The track, A Place Between the Ocean and the Stars, was heavily influenced by Panic! At the Disco. Following this release, Miron took a hiatus for a year until Scott Vallina of ex- Not Tonight Josephine asked him to join their band on a promotional tour for their new record, Common Gold. After the end of his run with Vallina and their group, Miron took another break from the studio until he was fully ready to pursue his solo career.
On July 26, 2019, Miron released Feelin’ Dangerous, a single off his first solo EP, Slightly Mysterious, Somewhat Delirious. In one month, the single had been featured (blogs, sites, etc.) and the music video had garnered over xxx views.
Influences
Miron’s influences stem from the 1960's to 2000's emo and everything in between. “I love Sinatra and the 1960's, it’s a huge piece of me that you can hear throughout all of my work. The 1980's are a big part of my musical influence as well, I love Journey, Queen, and Michael Jackson. 90's disco and, of course, 2000's emo sounds show up a lot too. I’ve always been inspired by Panic! At the Disco, My Chemical Romance, Blink-182 and anyone who has ever played a Warped Tour set.”
Personal Life
In 2008, Miron graduated from high school and focused on writing. Two years later, he decided to go back to school at St. Petersburg College where he majored in Advertising. Currently, Miron works for the Coca-Cola Company.
A karaoke enthusiast, Miron loves to hang out in Ybor City. There, he met Simone Walker, the owner of a well-known karaoke bar, Double Decker, where he shot his music video for Feelin’ Dangerous.
