Dagga Magazine is a South African online magazine devoted to dagga and the worldwide cannabis culture. Dagga Magazine publishes stories about the struggle to legalize dagga in South Africa, reviews of cannabis paraphernalia, articles on how to grow cannabis, and coverage of dagga cultural events like the annual Cape Town Cannabis march and the Dagga Day (4/20) celebrations as well as legal matters regarding dagga like The Trial of the Plant.

The magazine was first established on 2 October 2014 as a social media page.[1] On 14 October 2014 the magazine unsuccessfully tried to launch a printed edition with help of an Indiegogo crowd fund initiative. The magazine failed to raise the US$ 30,000 goal at the close of the crowdfund and only managed to fund US$ 206, refunds were subsequently issued to the backers.[2] The magazine sent its first tweet on 16 October 2014. The online magazine’s domain, daggamagazine.com, was registered on 17 October 2014 and ever since consider itself the voice of South African dagga culture & activism news.

Dagga Ops[edit]

On 7 May 2015 the magazine published the Dagga Ops Environmental Impact Assessment as received from the South African Police Service after filing a PAIA request to get access to the documents that give the SAPS Air Wing their mandate[3] to aerial spray dagga crops with glyphosate in South Africa and the Transkei.[4]
