Daily Shahbaz is a historical newspaper which was first published in 1942 from Lahore. The first owner of this historical newspaper was Noor Elahi Malik. Daily Shahbaz is one of the oldest newspapers of the subcontinent. It was shifted to Peshawar from Lahore after the creation of Pakistan in 1947. This was the first newspaper of the province that had a teleprinter. This credit also goes to Daily Shahbaz that it was the first of the newspapers that started publishing Pashto articles, which later on turned into a full-fledged page that had a separate editor. Then it was the historic day when in 1970 Khan Abdul Wali Khan purchased this newspaper from Engr. Saeed Khan, who had failed to run it successfully. Thus, Khan Abdul Wali Khan became the owner and the late Qalandar Momand its first editor. Later on, Shareef Farooq and Ajmal Khattak also carried out their duties as editor in this newspaper. On 20 September 1973, it stopped publishing because the then-government did not like the tone of the newspaper, but later on in 1978 it started again. After Qalandar Momand, the late Bashir Ahmad Bilour took charge of the newspaper. Awami National Party's current leadership once again started it on 31 July 2019 with the hope that it would become the voice of the voiceless.
