Daisry Mathias (born 15 December 1985) is a Namibian public policy advisor and youth leader who was appointed on 29 June 2015 as Presidential Advisor on Youth Matters and Enterprise Development by His Excellency, Dr. Hage Geingob President of the Republic of Namibia. In this role, Daisry advises the Head of State on policy and programme priorities to harness a demographic dividend and create an environment for sustainable entrepreneurship in Namibia. Previously, she was an Under 30 Chief Executive Officer of Team Namibia, from July 2014 until her appointment to the Namibian Presidency.[1][2][3]
Early life[edit]
Mathias was born at Oniipa in the Oshikoto region in 1985, where she attended a Finnish Missionary pre-primary school. She moved to Windhoek in 1991 and completed primary schooling at the Holy Cross Convent until 1998.
From 1999 to 2003, Mathias attended St. Pauls College high school, where she matriculated with HIGSCE certification. She proceeded to obtain her undergraduate qualification from the AAA School of Advertising in Cape Town, South Africa from 2004 to 2006. In 2011 she enrolled at the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business, Cape Town, South Africa where she obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from the university.[4]
Leadership[edit]
Mathias co-authored the “Harambee Prosperity Plan I and II”, the Namibian Government’s roadmap for accelerated development, launched in April 2016 and March 2021. Mathias serves on the COVID-19 Economic Task Force & the Dashboard Monitoring Policy Advisory team, from April 2020 to date and also serves as Commissioner for the National Planning Commission, from April 2017. She also served as Team Namibia Board Director from June 2015 to 2017.
