Dakota Winds is a golf course in Hankinson, North Dakota. It sits near the South Dakota-North Dakota border, being only a few feet away from Rosholt, South Dakota.[3]
Operation
Dakota Winds is operated by Dakota Magic and is close to other places owned by Dakota Magic, like the Dakota Magic Casino and the Dakota Nations Sportbook.[4][5][6] In February 2025, both it and the Dakota Magic Casino had to be evacuated due to a bomb threat.[7][8][9][10]
History
In 2013, the Heart River girls golf team qualified for the state tournament for the first time ever, and won the first state title at the Dakota Winds golf course.[11]
As apart of the COVID-19 pandemic, the golf course was shut down.[12][13]
In August 2025, the golf course was hit by a tornado.[14][6]
In September 2025, students of Rosholt High School in South Dakota travelled to Dakota Winds to learn about "science, conservation and golf course operations in an open-air classroom."[3]
