Dalhousie Rams Women's Soccer Team[edit]

The Dalhousie Rams Women's Soccer team [1] (Dal AC Rams) is a varsity level team that plays in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA)[2]. As a member of the ACAA, the Rams have an opportunity to compete at nationals as another member of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) if they were to win the ACAA title[3]. The Dal AC Rams began representing the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus in 2012[4].

Facilities[edit]

The Dalhousie Rams Women's Soccer Team hosts all their fitness and tactics training at the Langille Athletic Centre (LAC), on the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus. The exact address is 20 Cumming Drive, in Bible Hill, NS[5]. Season home games are hosted on the soccer pitch at the LAC. Dal AC is represented by Rocky the Ram, the campus mascot[6].

2017 Roster and Season[edit]

The 2017 roster and season game stats can be found on the Dalhousie website[1]. This season was meant to be one to remember for the 16 women who dedicated 14 weeks to this year's soccer season. The Rams were featured in the Truro Daily News, Truro's local newspaper, where they ensured the team that their success was well noticed[7]. The Rams maintained first place in the conference standings for the majority of the season. For the first time in 11 years they finished the season holding the conference's top spot[8].

The Dal AC Rams team won the bid to co-host the 2017 CCAA Women's Soccer National Championship alongside the University of King's College[9]. The team that got to compete at nationals, however, must be ranked higher in the ACAA conference standings[9]. For the conference season, the Dal Rams soccer team locked in 8 wins, 3 ties and only 1 loss allowing them first in the standings[10]. This secured the Dal AC Ram's spot at the 2017 CCAA Women's Soccer National Championships, held at the Mainland Commons Field in Halifax, NS[9].

National Titles[edit]

Overall, Dal AC was nationally ranked as 12th, above all other ACAA teams[11]. At the CCAA National Championships, the Dalhousie Rams faced the highest ranked national teams in the country where they placed eighth. They were awarded the Diana Drury Exemplary Leadership Award for being exceptional examples of leadership throughout their season[12].
