Dalton Ponchillia (born January 20, 1994) is an American football wide receiver who is currently a free agent. He played college football at Mercer University, East Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University.

Early years[edit]

While attending Franklin Road Academy in Nashville, Tennessee. He was a four year starter for the panthers. While accounting for 10 interceptions, over 100 receptions and over 2000 receiving yards in his career.[1] His senior year he was named 1st Team All State in Tennessee and Region Offensive Player of the Year.[2]

College career[edit]

Mercer University[edit]

In 2013, Ponchillia started his college football career at Mercer University as a member of the first football team since 1941.[3] While starting in two games as a true freshman and playing in all 12 games, Ponchillia recorded 8 catches for 72 yards.[4]

East Tennessee State University[edit]

In 2014, Ponchillia transferred to East Tennessee State University, which was also bringing their program back for the first time since 2003.[5] 2014 being a practice year for ETSU, Ponchillia used his sit out and redshirt year during this season. In 2015, ETSU played their first season since 2003 and during Ponchillia's sophomore and junior season, he went for 59 receptions, 863 yards and 5 touchdowns. Making Ponchillia the leading receiver in his two year career for the Buccaneers in all three receiving categories.[6]

Western Kentucky University[edit]

In 2017, Ponchillia graduate transferred to Western Kentucky University for his last season. After dealing with some injuries, Ponchillia saw limited time on the field in his final season. Ponchillia capturing only 1 reception for 15 yards in his senior season.[7]

Professional Career[edit]

On May 11, 2018, Ponchillia began his professional career with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the National Football League. Ponchillia never made it past camp with the Jaguars.[8]

On May 10, 2019, Ponchillia signed with the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League. Ponchillia spent time with the Alouettes during camp and on the practice roster for the 2019 season.[9][10]

On December 23, 2019, Ponchillia signed with the New York Guardians in the XFL. Ponchillia was added to the active roster March 10, 2020. On March 12, 2020 the league was put on pause due to COVID-19.[11][12][13]
