Dan Bartholomae is the director of athletics for the Michigan State University. He succeeded J Batt, who left for Kentucky on July 28, 2026. He previously served as athletic director for Western Michigan University. He also served as deputy athletic director for internal affairs for the University of Pittsburgh and executive deputy athletic director for Oregon State University.
Early life
Bartholomae was born August 2, 1979 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bartholomae attended Indiana for his B.S. and Pittsburgh for his MBA.
Career
During Bartholomae's 20 years in collegiate athletics, he's been known as a massive fundraiser bringing in record investment at his institutions.
Bartholomae was announced as the new athletic director at Michigan State University on August 17, 2026, and officially took office on August 31, 2026.
