Dan Carrillo Levy

Dan Carrillo Levy is (Born 19 January 1987) is a Mexican Film Executive, Director, Producer and Writer.[1]

He is best known for his collaborations with Guillermo Arriaga[2] and as Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Moxie 88[3]

Early life[edit]

Carrillo Levy was born 19 January 1987 in Mexico City. His love for film started at a very early age. He completed a B.A. in Film and TV at Southern Methodist University.[4]

Career[edit]

Carrillo Levy started his career while in High School he Directed several music videos for Universal Music artists Fato, El Trono De Mexico, Mayte and Elsa Rios.[5] "Se Fue" became a Durangense hit with more than 17 million views.[6][7]

While studying at the SMU and volunteering at the Dallas Film Festival in 2008, Carrillo Levy met Guillermo Arriaga and was invited by him to join the team of The Burning Plain which premiered at the Venice Film Festival. Arriaga wrote the script and directed the film, starring Charlize Theron.[8]

That same year, Carrillo Levy created and Directed "El Reporterito", a TV segment for Televisa Deportes during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.[2][9][10]

In 2009 he Co-Produced the film "Sin Ella" (Without Her) Directed by Jorge Colon. Starring Luis Roberto Guzman and Zuria Vega.[11] He also served as Co-Executive Producer of "Second Bakery Attack" Directed by Carlos Cuaron, starring Kirsten Dunst.[12]

Carrillo Levy continued to collaborate with Arriaga on "Words With Gods" , "Broken Night" and in "Zero Hour", this last one was Directed by Carrillo Levy and became official selection of several film festivals worldwide including Hollyshorts, Palm Springs Shortfest, GenArt, Morelia Film Festival and Guanajuato Film Festival.[13][14][1]

"Zero Hour" stars Jaime Camil and Camilla Belle, with a script by Guillermo Arriaga and original score by Sergio Vallin from Maná.[2][15][16]

Carrillo Levy also served as Director for New Projects for Lemon Films USA, and as Consulting Head of Department of Creative and Interactive at H-M Communications, developing content and creating marketing/publicity campaigns for Film Studios, TV Shows and Products like: The Thing (Universal Studios), Q'Viva (Fox/Televisa/Univision), The Muppets (Disney), The Lorax (Universal) and Snow White & The Huntsman (Universal).[17][18] In 2015, Carrillo Levy partnered with Producer Eugenio Villamar to form Moxie 88 a boutique studio.

As Chief Creative Officer of Moxie 88, he has developed properties that include the upcoming film "The Demon"[19]based on fictionalized original story based on the character of legendary luchador Blue Demon Jr. and Produced "Little Bitches" a Sony Pictures release, starting Kiersey Clemmons, Ginny Gardner, and Jennette McCurdy.[20]
