Dan Joeright

Dan Joeright is an American drummer, multi-instrumentalist and composer with credits in music production and engineering.[1]. He is best known as a drummer, having been a member of the Moog driven rock band The Rentals, fronted by Ex-Weezer bassist Matt Sharp.[2] He has also toured with Jim White, Sasquatch and El Vez among others. Joeright has led his own group Earth Moon Earth since 2016.[3][4] Joeright started playing at a young age in his hometown of Brunswick, OH and later moved to Boston to attended Berklee College of Music. After his tenure at Berklee, Joeright relocated to New York City in 1991 where he became a member of the experimental rock band Sulfur playing drums with them for several years in the NYC underground music scene and on their only full length album titled Delirium Tremens.[5] Later Joeright joined A/N with Algis Kizys and Norman Westberg (Swans), a hard hitting, two drummer group featuring Joeright and Vincent Signorelli (Unsane) on drums. In 1997 Dan joined with Luaka Bop recording artist Jim White to do several North American and European tours in support of the album Wrong Eyed Jesus. Also while in New York in the late 90’s Joeright did several recording sessions including those with Jim White and Terry Hall both of which, were produced by David Byrne.

In 1999 Joeright relocated to Los Angeles where he joined psychedelic rock band The Snakes. He also played, recorded and toured with several different artists around this time, including: Peter Stuart, Los Super Elegantes, Abby Travis, Kristian Hoffman and El Vez.[6]

In 2006 he joined synth-rock band, The Rentals. During 2006 and 2007 Joeright toured the world with The Rentals and recorded their “Last Little Life” EP out of his garage in Hollywood taking on the roles of drummer, producer and engineer.[7][8] In 2008 The Rentals started writing and recording their Songs About Time LP, which Dan played drums on as well as helped to produce and mix.[9]

In 2015 Joeright built and opened a “destination recording studio” in Yucca Valley, CA called Gatos Trail.[10] To date the Gatos Trail client list includes SZA, Twin Shadow, Unsane, The Mekons and Wand[11]

In 2016 Joeright formed, Earth Moon Earth, an experimental “cosmic-rock” band with one studio album release to date.[12][13][14][15]
