Dan M. Belecz

Dan Michael Belecz (February 1941–28 April 1963) was a meteorologist with the South Pole Station winter party of 1962.[1] Mount Belecz in Antarctica is named in his honor.[2]


Belecz was born in February of 1941 to Leona Kunesh and Carl Michael Belecz in Montana, and attended Milwaukie High School.[3][verification needed] He died April 28th 1963 in Portland Oregon and was buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery.[4]
