Dan Smoot is an American business executive and former collegiate water polo athlete. He is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maxar Technologies, a leading provider of space-based data, analytics, and insights for a variety of industries, including defense, civil government, and commercial markets. Dan Smoot attended the University of California, Irvine, where he was a standout member of the men's water polo team. In 1989, Smoot was part of the UC Irvine team that won the NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship, defeating California 9-8 in the title match. Smoot took home the Most Outstanding Player award of the tournament.[1]
Career[edit]
In June 2021, Smoot was appointed as the President and CEO of Riverbed Technology, a company specializing in network performance and digital experience management solutions.[2]
Since November 2023, Smoot has been the acting CEO of Maxar Technologies. Under his leadership, the company has pursued a new phase of growth, capitalizing on its capabilities in geospatial data and space technology to deliver intelligence solutions across a range of sectors.[3]
