The Reflections of Christ Kingdom World Outreach International Church (The R.O.C.K. WOI)

On December 5, 1986, Apostle Dr. Dana Carson began his first church, Praise Tabernacle, in Austin, Texas. The church was started in the home of Kenneth and Marie Hargrove, with nine people.

From 1986 to 1996, Carson built the church into a megachurch with a congregation of over 5,000. During this time, Carson launched several major network television broadcasts on Black Entertainment Television and The Word Network.[2]

In 1995, the church acquired 26 acres of land and built an over 50,000 sq.ft. campus that housed an 1,800-seat sanctuary, gymnatorium, cafeteria, Christian bookstore, the Praise Christian Academy school (pre-school-8th grade), multiple Christian education classrooms, a 32-track digital recording studio, and administrative offices.[5]

In 2002, Carson heard the voice of God telling him to pack up his ministry and move to Houston for revival. He was followed by three hundred families to the new church in Alvin, Texas – a small city on the outskirts of Houston.[6][7]

In 2003, Carson changed the name of the church from Praise Tabernacle to The Reflections of Christ's Kingdom World Outreach International (The R.O.C.K. WOI). While in Alvin, the church took on a new focus of building Bible-centered, Spirit-filled, community-building, Kingdom-minded churches and planting them across the world to reflect the racially and culturally diverse design of the Kingdom of God.[6] Current church plant locations include Alvin, Atlanta, Georgia, Austin, Butuan, Philippines, Charlotte, North Carolina
, Chicago, Illinois, Kyle, Texas, La Marque, Texas, Monrovia, Liberia, Orange Farm, South Africa, Rumia, Poland and Vlakfontein, South Africa.[8][9]

While in Alvin, Carson not only grew a thriving ministry, he also began expanding both his vision and his capabilities through authoring nearly 200 books.[10]

In 2013, Carson once again transitioned the church, this time from Alvin to Houston. In October 2013, Carson led the church in purchasing an 11+ acre, seven facility campus located at 9321 Edgebrook Drive in Southeast Houston.[8]

Other Ministry Activities

In 2003, Carson started The R.O.C.K. Fun & Fitness Center. A non-profit community center with full-size gym, racquetball court, billiards area, general meeting room with 250 person capacity, fully equipped weight room, and concession stand with commercial kitchen.[7]

In 2005, Carson launched a 're-release' of the church's I Believe in Miracles – Live CD. The album was originally recorded in Austin at the Praise Tabernacle church.[11]

In 2017, Carson led The R.O.C.K. in burning the mortgage on 221 acres of land in the Rosharon, Texas, area (just 30 minutes south of downtown Houston).

In 2017, The R.O.C.K. launched the Hurricane Harvey Relief program. In "supermarket-style", Carson created a system to feed over 2,000 families immediately following Hurricane Harvey.[1]

Dana Carson Kingdom Ministries (DCKM)

In 2002, DCKM founded the Global Restoration Initiative (GRI), which is a non-profit organization that was initially designed to serve the humanitarian needs of the people in Cameroon through educational supplies, clothing, books, medicine, and equipment. Since then, GRI has served the humanitarian needs of people throughout the continent of Africa.[12]

In 2005, DCKM launched the Kingdom Bible University (KBU; formerly Carson Kingdom Institute). KBU is an online school that provides a one-of-a-kind Kingdom-based theological education to five-fold ministry leaders and serious Bible students.[13]

In 2006, Carson once again expanded his ministry reach through radio, television and internet broadcasting. The DCKM broadcasts were featured on Daystar, TBN, The Word Network, WJYS – Chicago, Streamingfaith.com, MySpace.com, YouTube.com, Praise 92.1 FM Houston, Channel 55 – The TUBE (Houston), and WBN.[7] Over the years, Carson has been interviewed on radio and television platforms such as The Yolanda Adams Morning Show[14][15][16] and Houston Newsmakers with Khambrel Marshall.[17][18]

In 2007, Carson started the Carson Consulting Group, which provides for-profit and non-profit consultation in the areas of Organizational, Personnel Development, Visionary Leadership, Business planning, start-ups, and sustainability coaching.[19][20][21] As a certified church consultant in the areas of Church Growth & Health, Church Building and Expansion, and Capital Stewardship, Carson provides consulting for small and medium-sized churches in all areas of church growth.[22]

In 2011, Carson started FD's Famous Burgers & Chicago-Style Wings Restaurant. A soul food restaurant and coffeehouse that serves the Pearland metropolitan area.[23]

In 2016, DCKM purchased the Red Roof Academy[24] and relaunched the school with its new name – the Carson Academy of Kingdom Excellence (C.A.K.E.). The school currently educates nearly 500 unserved children. The school campus contains five buildings on two acres of land. In the spring of 2017, Carson led a major renovation of the school for the celebratory grand opening of the new Carson Academy of Kingdom Excellence on April 3, 2017.[25]
