DanceTrippin BV
DanceTrippin BV produces and distributes electronic dance music focussed audiovisual programming through internet and its television channel DanceTrippin TV. The core format of DanceTrippin consists of live recorded dj performances at nightclubs, clubs and festivals, giving the viewer a realtime experience of the dj's set and atmosphere of the party, generally an hour in length. DanceTrippin espouses a "music first" policy by placing its emphasis on music-based programming over lifestyle and personality-based shows.
Background[edit]
The Amsterdam based company was founded in 2000 by Will Johnston. The first "episodes" were recorded at Innercity in Eilat with the Dutch artists Ferry Corsten and DJ Thimbles. In the following years DanceTrippin was very active on the Spanish island of Ibiza, before beginning to increase its operations to cover events on an international basis.
Releases[edit]
DanceTrippin released several CD+DVD compilations between 2003 and 2007, including the Soul Providers live in Amsterdam, and Bora Bora Ibiza volumes 1-3. With the collapse of the physical compilation market, this concept was shelved in favor of concentrating on broadcast activities.
Programming[edit]
By the end of 2010 DanceTrippin is approaching 200 episodes, notably featuring artists like Carl Cox, Moby, Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Roger Sanchez, Groove Armada, Steve Lawler, Deadmau5, Marco Carola, BookaShade, M.A.N.D.Y., Dubfire, etc. Underground and breaking artists are also frequently highlighted in the programming, which is usually recorded in prestigious clubs and events like Space, Amnesia, Pacha, Winter Music Conference, the Love Parade, Amsterdam Dance Event, Kazantip, Cocoon, We Love, etc.
DanceTrippin's programming has been broadcast for several years on Ibiza TV's channel "TEF" for between 6 and 10 hours daily, in the Netherlands on "The Box" music TV, and has recently begun broadcasting Free-to-air 24 hours on the Astra 3B-satellite as well as "Music Box" in Italy.
