Dani Strong is a Canadian singer-songwriter who calls both Ontario and British Columbia home. She began her career rooted in country music before evolving into a broader songwriter style that blends folk, pop, and storytelling. Strong is the founder of Taylor Entertainment and has released multiple albums that have received critical and commercial attention.[1][2]
Early life and education
Strong was born in Ontario, Canada, and raised in Salmon Arm, British Columbia.[3] She began writing and performing music around age 12 and became active in the local music scene during her university years, performing at jam nights and small venues.[4]
Career
Time to Breathe
Strong’s debut album, Time to Breathe, debuted at number 1 on the iTunes Country chart and number 2 overall.[5] The album gained attention after an impersonator entered one of its songs into a televised talent show, inadvertently boosting Strong’s exposure.[6]
Undefined
Released in 2020, Strong’s sophomore album, Undefined, consists of 13 tracks produced by Juno Award winner Dan Brodbeck.[2] The album blends her songwriting roots with elements of pop-country and indie storytelling. The single "Wild Summer" has surpassed 1 million streams on Apple Music,[1] "Not Right Now" appeared in the Amazon Prime film Hometown Holiday, and "Mrs. Jones (Evelyn)" won Best Country Song at the 2020 International Independent Music Awards.[2]
Performances and tours
Strong has performed at festivals and venues across Canada, including Boots & Hearts (2017), the Calgary Stampede, and Canadian Music Week.[1] She had planned to tour nationally with a solo concert series titled Songbirds & Heartstrings, but the tour was canceled one month before its start due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[7]
Other ventures
In addition to her performing career, Strong co-founded Taylor Entertainment with her husband, Grant Taylor of The Salads.[8] The company supports emerging Canadian artists and provides artist development and representation services.
Strong is also a Professor at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario, teaching in the Music Industry Arts program. She helped develop and teaches in the Music Industry Management & Artist Development program.[4]
Recognition
Strong’s music has accumulated around 2 million streams across platforms.[9] She has received two International Independent Music Awards and has had songs placed in films and streaming series.[2][1]
