Daniel Glynn[1][2] is a British Filmmaker.

Early Life[edit]

Glynn was born in Clapham, South London the son of illustrator Barry Glynn and Ann Glynn. He was educated at St Josephs Roman Catholic College in south London and then graduated with honours from the Film programme at T Surrey Institute of Art & Design, University College (now University for the Creative Arts)

Television and Film Work[edit]

The United Way[edit]

In 2021 he produced[3] ‘The United Way’ starring Eric Cantona[4], the story of Manchester United F.C. from the 1950’s through to the clubs historic treble win in 1999. Featuring David Beckham, Bryan Robson, Ryan Giggs, Mark Hughes, Shaun Ryderr, Peter Schmeichel, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, Neil Kinnock and Michael Heseltine, with a score by Bafta winning, Oscar nominated Composer George Fenton, the film was released globally by Embankment Films. It had a theatrical release in Australian cinemas and is a SKY Original in the UK.

I Am Duran[edit]

In 2019 he produced ‘I Am Durán’[5][6], released by Universal Pictures, the story of boxer Roberto Duran and the rise of modern Panama, featuring Roberto Duran, Robert De Niro, Sylvester Stallone, Mike Tyson, General Manuel Noreiga, Don King, Bob Arum, Oscar De Lay Hoya and Marvellous Marvin Hagler. The film was shortlisted in the ‘Best International Documentary’ category at the Grierson Awards and won a 2020 Focal International award.

’48 Hours with Muhammad Ali[edit]

In 2018, Glynn Directed and Produced the documentary[7][8][9] story of Photographer Peter Angelo Simon’s time spent with Muhammad Ali at his Deerlake training camp in 1974, just weeks before his historic fight with George Forman in Zaire, a fight dubbed “The Rumble in the Jungle. The film was an official selection at Sheffield Docfest and shortlisted in the Best Documentary category at the LA Shorts International Film Festival

'Sleeping Giant: An Indian Football Story'[10][edit]

In 2013, he directed a documentary about two young Indian boys plucked from the streets of Mumbai and flown to the UK to train at Queens Park Rangers Football club. Also a discussion about the state of Indian football, the film was distributed by BBC Worldwide and Journeyman Pictures.

The Four Year Plan

In 2011 The Four Plan was released, a behind the scenes look at an ownership takeover at  Queens Park Rangers Football Club  by Flavio Briatore, Bernie Ecclestone and Lakshmi Mittal (with his son-in-law Amit Bhatia). It was released initially on DVD and then in 2012 aired on BBC and Netflix to widespread critical acclaim, winning several awards and shortlisted for a Grierson Award in ‘Best Documentary on a Contemporary Theme’ category. It is often cited in top lists of the best ever sports documentaries ever made.

Notable documentaries which Glynn has either Directed or Produced include include Once Were Lions[11][12], Frampton: Return of the Jackal’, Fight Game: The McGuigan’s’ 'The Verve: Bittersweet Memories'[13] and 'Night of the Fight: Hatton's Last Stand'[14]

Ad Hoc Films[edit]

Daniel co-founded UK Production company Ad Hoc Films with partner and regular collaborator Mat Hodgson in 2005. He continues to develop and raise finance for film and Television projects, including a major new film based on the best selling book ‘Run Hide Repeat’.
