Daniel Koussou Chukwuka (born 26 June 1987) is a Nigerian petroleum engineer, energy executive, and economic diplomacy advocate. He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Dau-O Gik Oil and Gas Limited, an energy company incorporated in Nigeria in 2019. He serves as African Union Special Envoy on Oil and Gas (Continental) under the framework of Agenda 2063, the African Union’s long-term development blueprint.[1] He is also associated with the BIGWIL International Community of CEOs and Diplomatic Forum, where he chairs the Committee on Economic Diplomacy, Trade and Investment for the Nigeria chapter.[2]
Early Life and Education
Daniel Koussou Chukwuka was born on 26 June 1987. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, graduating in 2014.
Career
Dau-o Gik Oil and Gas Limited
In 2019, Chukwuka founded Dau-o Gik Oil and Gas Limited, a Nigerian energy company incorporated on 6 May 2019 (RC No. 1581997), with its registered office located in Victoria Island, Lagos.
As Chief Executive Officer, he has focused on positioning the company within Nigeria’s oil and gas value chain, with an emphasis on sustainable resource utilisation, strategic partnerships, and energy sector development. He has accumulated over seven years of business experience within the energy and commercial sectors.
African Union Appointment
Under the African Union’s Agenda 2063, Chukwuka was nominated as African Union Special Envoy on Oil and Gas (Continental). Agenda 2063 is the AU’s 50-year strategic framework aimed at structural transformation, economic integration, and sustainable development across Africa.[3]
In this role, he advocates for the strategic deployment of Africa’s hydrocarbon resources to support industrialisation, economic transformation, and energy security across the continent. His mandate includes representing Africa’s energy interests in global forums and contributing to discussions surrounding global decarbonisation while ensuring that Africa’s developmental priorities remain central.
The appointment aligns with the AU’s vision of building “an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in the international arena.”
Economic Diplomacy and International Engagement
Chukwuka has been appointed by the BIGWIL International Community of CEOs and Diplomatic Forum, under the International Human Rights Observatory – Africa (IHRO-Africa), as one of the experts contributing to discussions on economic diplomacy.[4]
He currently serves as Chairman, Committee on Economic Diplomacy, Trade and Investment for the forum’s Nigeria chapter. In this capacity, he promotes cross-border partnerships, international investment opportunities, and strategic trade engagement aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s and Africa’s position in the global economy.[5]
His leadership initiatives include creating platforms for young chief executive officers to participate in international trade and investment, encouraging innovation, global partnerships, and private-sector participation in Africa’s economic transformation.[6]
