Danielle Sultana Tolmais (Born March 15th, 1995) is a Franco-American professional soccer player. She plays striker for the D1 Féminin club Lille LOSC, located in Lille, France and for the French National Team reserve squad.

Early Life

Danielle was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, by Julie Novack (St. Louis, MO) and Philippe Tolmais (Deauville, France) and started playing soccer at the age of 5 years old. She went to Lafayette High School and played for Elite Clubs National Teams St. Louis Scott Gallagher, where she was a top goal scorer and key player in the midfield. She was also a part of the honor roll at her high school every semester. She verbally committed on a full academic/athletic scholarship to University of Memphis her sophomore year.

Soccer Career

University

At one full season at the University of Memphis, she started 8 out of 21 matches, and recorded 3 goals and 6 assists. The summer of 2014, Danielle had a trial with FFC Frankfurt, located in Frankfurt, Germany. FFC Frankfurt was, at the time, reigning Fraun Bundesliga and Women’s UEFA Champions League Champions. Fall of 2014 she signed for a full athletic scholarship to St. Louis University. Her junior and senior year she was the top goal scorer and earned the top goal of the year honors for her goal against Southern Methodist University. Overall she scored 20 goals (13 game winning) and 12 assists. She also earned all-conference and all-regional honors her senior year. She was an honors student-athlete for all three years and graduated in the Spring of 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and Communication.

Professional

In Danielle’s first 6 months in Europe she ascended from Division d’Honneur féminin to Division 1 Championnat and the French National Team reserves. She signed her first amateur contract with Le Havre AC, where she had been recruited by Le Havre American president Vincent Volpe. However, after just a few weeks, her contract was transferred to US Saint Malo (Saint Malo, Brittany) in the French Division 2. She started 8 out of 8 games as a “Diable Noir”, and scored 4 goals and recorded 6 assists. She made her ascension to the premiere French Division during the 2017-18 winter Mercato transfer period. She was transferred to ASJ Soyaux-Charente, located in Soyaux, France. She was coached by Sébastien Joseph. She recorded 5 goals and 3 assists in 10 Championnat matches, and scored 10 goals in 5 matches in le Coup de France Féminin, where the team advanced to the semi-final and were defeated 2-0 by the champions, Paris Saint-Germain Féminin (PSG). She was awarded top goal of the week for the 22nd match of the season for her winning goal against FC Girondins de Bordeaux Féminin. After the end of her contract with ASJ Soyaux-Charente, she signed a year-long contract (2018-19) with Lille LOSC, coached by Dominique Carlier, where she plays striker/attacking midfield alongside other French National Team players Ouleye Sarr and Elisa Launey.

International

Danielle was a part of the ODP Region 2 pool for multiple years during her youth career, and was selected for the ECNL Player Development Program. In her second game in the D1 Féminin Championnat she scored 2 goals to defeat Olympique de Marseille Féminin to win 2–1, and was selected that same week on the French National Team Reserves for the Alayna Women’s Cup in Alanya, Turkey in March of 2018. Team France won the cup, beating the Mexico Women’s National 1st Team 2-1. Danielle was awarded “Top Goal Scorer” of the tournament, as she recorded 4 goals in 4 matches played. Danielle was also called to play with the French U23 National Team in a friendly tournament at La Manga Club in Murcia, Spain. She scored 2 goals in 3 matches. In the season 2018-2019 she was selected to play with the French National Reserves to play against the Belgium Women’s National Team, in which she recorded 40 minutes and the team won 5-2.

Education

Danielle is now currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Psychology and Neuroscience in Mental Health from King’s College in London, as a part of a distance-learning program. This will complement her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and Communication from St. Louis University.
