Career[edit]

Danny Drysdale is an American filmmaker from the SF Bay Area. He found his imperative to create as a musician in the DIY Bay Area underground punk scene in the mid nineties called the Sunnyvale Music Club, in a sixties style garage blues band called The Mulligrubs.

His career started in documentary, his first project “Rock The Bottom” which is still in production, chronicles the origins and careers of multiple female skateboarders including Lyn-Z Adams, Hawkins Pastrana, Vanessa Torres, Cara-beth Burnside, Mimi Knoop among many others.

He since co-wrote and directed and produced “SOS MATROS” with the iconic Ilya Lagutenko and his band Mummy Troll.

He directed content for The Sundance Channel with PCTV during the Sundance Film Festival, winning an Emmy for editing documentary segments of Jonathan Caouette, Terrence Howard, Roger Ebert, Paul Giamatti, Crispin Glover, and the festival co-director Jeffery Gilmore.

The first music video he ever pitched was for Rough Trade's Scissors For Lefty. The video then went on to win first place for the IMVF (International Music Video Festival). A second version of it had to be produced because it was banned before 7pm on MTV in the UK for scenes of stabbing and cigarettes. When interviewed about the video by the NME, Danny explained "It was intended to be a reaction against the traditional rock video and I felt that it would be better for a band in their first video to raise more questions than answer them. The whole theme revolves around dancing; but dancing often involves subtexts like murder. That's what I chose to concentrate on."

In 2008 he produced and directed his 3rd music video “Human” for The Killers. The video went on to receive accolades including Video of the Year (audience choice) for Rolling Stone magazine and the multi-platinum award for MTV international. He has since done multiple videos for The Killers including The World We Live and Rut, and Better You Than Me, Joseph featuring Elton John and Neal Tenant.

His music video and documentary work spans genres working with artists The Killers IAMX, Cursive, Christian Eigner (Depeche Mode) Vanilla Ice, Tal Wilkenfeld and many others.
