Danny Lauter (born October 7, 2002) is an American college football quarterback for the Georgetown Hoyas. During his collegiate debut, he set Georgetown’s single-game passing record with 428 yards in his first collegiate start in 2023 and became the Hoyas’ primary starter in 2024.[1]
Early life and high school career
Lauter grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut and attended the Brunswick School.[1] He was an honor roll student, a multi-year starter at quarterback, and earned NEPSAC honors during the 2021 season.[2]
Local coverage described Brunswick building its 2021 offense around Lauter as it entered one of the most competitive schedules in New England.[3] He helped lead the team to the NEPSAC Class A Mike Silipo Bowl game, finishing the year 7–3.[4]
Lauter also played baseball at Brunswick, contributing to a Fairchester Athletic Association championship as a freshman.[1]
In 2020, he was selected for the U.S. Under-18 Select Team and competed in the International Bowl at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.[5]
As a recruit, Lauter was rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports.[6] A scouting evaluation on QBHitList highlighted his size, arm strength, accuracy, and mobility.[7]
During his senior year, national football media accounts including ESPN NFL, The Checkdown, NFL Brasil, and MaxPreps published clips of Lauter’s high-school throws on social media.[8][9][10][11]

2025 season
Lauter began the 2025 season as part of Georgetown’s quarterback rotation and played in the Hoyas’ first three games. He helped lead Georgetown to a 51–14 victory over Davidson in the season opener.[17]

Later season reporting from The Hoya described the backup quarterback playing in lue of starting quarterback “in place of the injured senior quarterback Danny Lauter,” confirming that Lauter missed subsequent games due to injury.[24]
