Lenihan was born in Park Royal, West London. A former comedian[1] (under the stage-name Danny James.[2]), musician and actor [3], Lenihan has featured in several televisions shows, and feature films, and is a frequent panelist for BBC Radio. Lenihan's debut on screen occurred in September 2002 when a chance encounter lead to a successful audition[4]. Lenihan has also played major roles in the Horror Director, Pat Higgins' movies HellBride[5] and KillerKiller[6]. Lenihan previously made two cameo appearances and wrote the musical score[3] for Pat Higgins' 2005 debut release, TrashHouse[7][8]

Raised in Chessington, south west London, Lenihan's career began in 1991 at London News Service[9], a press agency based in Exmouth Market, in Clerkenwell, London.

During this time, Lenihan attended stage school, eventually moving into acting and comedy full-time. A keen musician, Lenihan also released records under the London label and publisher, N2 Records. His band, Babywax[10], debuted their first single, Time, in the dance compilation EP "The Magnificent 7 - Volume 2[11]", featured on the front cover of the Daily Star[12].

As a comedian, Lenihan worked all over the world, and in 2002 was a finalist in the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year show[13]. 2005 toured his debut Edinburgh Fringe Show, Radio Blah Blah[14][15]. Largely booked as a compere, Lenihan was a host at London's famous Comedy Store, and the Jongleurs comedy venues around the UK and Europe. Also in 2005, Lenihan hosted[16] a charity gala at The Comedy Store, for Cancer Research UK. Lenihan also featured twice in Rufus Hound's book, Stand Up Put Downs[17] - The Best Heckler Put-Downs From Comedy's Masters Of The Art.

Lenihan set up his first company, Elemental Europe LTD on January 29th 2005, which went on to trade as Studio-Flash.com[18]. Specialising in the import and sale of photographic lighting equipment, Elemental quickly grew from a home business to a well recognised brand in the UK market. In 2010, Lenihan formed his second company, 3 Legged Thing LTD[19][20], specialising in the design and manufacture of tripods and camera accessories. In 2012, Lenihan took on investment to help grow the brand, and partnered with investor, Gary Garber. Lenihan has featured in a number of high profile interviews, including industry magazine, Pixel[21]. Lenihan is also a regular contributor and journalist for the photographic industry where he has written a number of controversial articles, including "Why Things Cost What They Cost[22]" and "How Not To Be a Brand Ambassador[23]". He is also a regular article writer for LinkedIn, with several widely quoted articles including "Why Cold Calling a CEO is Difficult[24]".

Lenihan is also a key contributor on social media, and part of a mass-tort law suit after being blocked by President Donald Trump on Twitter[25].

In October 2017, Lenihan collected a Lucie Technical Award [26]for Best Tripod on behalf of his company, 3 Legged Thing LTD, presented at the Javitz Centre in Manhattan, New York City.

In January 2018, he further collected an award for Best of CES at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, also on behalf of 3 Legged Thing LTD. In August 2018 Lenihan was shortlisted for the Natwest Great British Entrepreneur Awards in the Creative Industries Category.

Lenihan hosts the Faces For Radio[27] Podcast on iTunes, along with his long time friends, Timothy McEwan and Phillip Close.
