Danny Mastrogiorgio is an American actor and voice actor recognized for his work across film, television, theater, and video games. He is perhaps best known for voicing Toni Cipriani in the 2005 video game Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, a role that introduced him to a wide gaming audience. His on-screen career spans both major film roles, including appearances in Brother Bear and Enchanted, and a long-running presence in television, most notably the Law & Order franchise.
Career
Mastrogiorgio's television credits include The Sopranos and multiple entries in the Law & Order franchise, namely Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Earlier in his career, he had roles in the television mini-series adaptations of Mario Puzo's novel, The Last Don, and its sequel, The Last Don II. In 2014, he took on the role of Frankie Carbone in Gotham.[1]
In voice acting, Mastrogiorgio has lent his talents to several notable video game projects, including Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (2005), Batman: Dark Tomorrow, The Sopranos: Road to Respect, and Red Dead Redemption. His voice work also extends to animated films, including Brother Bear and Underdog (2007).
Theater
Mastrogiorgio has built a substantial stage career alongside his screen and voice work. His theatrical credits include The Two Gentlemen of Verona at the New York Shakespeare Festival [when?] and The Taming of the Shrew, performed at both the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. [citation needed]
A particular highlight of his stage career came in 1997, when he starred as the entire DaGato family in the one-man show My Italy Story, written by Joseph Gallo. The New York Times described the production as engaging, praising Mastrogiorgio's performance in the role.[2] The show enjoyed a multi-year run, earning further positive notices from Hartford Courant,[3] Newsday,[4] and the New York Daily News.[5]
In February 2014, Mastrogiorgio appeared as Paulie Pennino in Rocky the Musical, continuing his pattern of taking on roles in stage adaptations of well-known stories.[6]
