Danny Morrissey (born 13 December 1993) is a footballer who plays as a striker for League of Ireland side Cork City. Morrissey grew up in Midleton, Co. Cork and attended Midleton CBS Secondary School.[1] Danny played his underage football at East Cork club Midleton F.C before joining Cork City's Youth set-up.[2]

Cork City F.C.

The Midleton native scored 8 goals in 23 games for Cork City during the 2013 season, with 6 of those goals coming in 9 games after the departure of Manager Tommy Dunne mid-season. He scored a 94th minute winner in a 1–0 win over Dublin club Bohemians in August before netting a hat-trick in a 4–1 win over rivals Derry City.[3] He linked up well with Shamrock Rovers loanee Ciaran Kilduff up front for Cork City, netting 19 goals between them.

Danny sparked a lot of interest from English clubs during the second half of the 2013 season with Cork City. Morrissey was set to join Huddersfield Town in November 2013 in a deal worth around €100,000; however, the deal fell through. He has also been linked with moves to Wigan Athletic, Blackburn Rovers and AFC Bournemouth. Despite the interest from England, Danny has not ruled out re-signing for Cork City.[4]
