Dario Mangano (born 1968) is a Belgian Computer scientist recognized by many as an expert in Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing. Mangano is the inventor of a new Data Integration methodology called The Integrated Data Hub and of a mew data modeling technic called The Leaf Schema. He is also the creator of the Swiss Data Day Event.

Compared with the approach of the others pioneering architects of data warehousing like Bill Inmon and Ralph Kimball, Dario Mangano’s approach is often considered as more agile and less impacted by the environment’s modifications.

Biography[edit]

Dario Mangano was born on October 31, 1968 in La Louvière, Belgium. He holds a Master in Computer Sciences and a PhD in Information Management. He started his career as a CIO in 1990 and occupied several Senior Management position in big companies such as Nespresso, Capital Group, Merck Serono, Palexpo, etc. In 2003 he developed for the first time is idea of The Integrated Data Hub for the General Direction Of Agriculture at The European Commission in Brussels, Belgium. He improved its data integration methodology when working at Merck Serono, Capital Group, Nespresso and Palexpo. In 2009 he met Hans Hultgren, and was very interested by integrating the Data Vault Modeling method into its own architecture model, but was confronted by the difficulty to query the model. To resolve this problem he created the Leaf Schema Model, which is in fact a Vaulted Star Schema. Since 2012 Dario Mangano is the organizer of the Swiss Business Intelligence Days and The Swiss Business Intelligence Awards. In 2017 The Swiss BI Days event was extended to other Data Management topics and was renamed The Swiss Data Days Event.
