Dariush Ashouri
Dariush Ashouri (Persian: داریوش آشوری)[1][circular reference] (born in 1957 in Tehran, Iran) is an editor, producer, production manager, and director in the Iranian Film industry for more than 30 years.[2][circular reference]
Education
Ashouri earned his Diploma in Maths at Dar ul-Funun polytechnic school (@persian: دارالفنون) in 1975. Entering college, he graduated in film editing and filmmaking from the College of TV and Cinema, IRIB, in 1977. In addition, he graduated with a degree in Management of Film Production at Industrial Management Organization (IMI[3]) in 1987.
Professional Career
Ashouri has compiled, managed, and consulted on several projects as an editor, production manager, film producer, director, and professor of filmmaking.
Teaching
He was the founder and head of the leading cinema studies institution, namely, "Practical Workshop of Film-making" in 1987, which has since changed its name to "Cinema Educational Complex". Several alumni of his institute have started successful careers in the field, namely, Fariborz Arabnia, Saman Moghadam.
In more recent years, he has been teaching at several higher education centers in Tehran, Mashhad, Rasht, and Yazd, with more than a thousand students. In the period of 2000–2003, he presented lessons as a professor in the series of cinema editing programs at Education TV channel (IRIB-Amoozesh[4])(see the Persian TV channels here (List_of_Persian-language_television_channels)
Editing
He started his editing career with "Safar-e-Gharib" in 1985. Within less than three years, he was nominated as best film editor of the Fajr International Film Festival in 1988 with "Hey Joe!". In 1996, he was awarded best editor for editing the Iranian TV series "Pahlevanan Nemimirand" (@English: Champions Never Die) in 1996. Moreover, he was the editor of the movie "philadelphy[5][circular reference]" in 2011, starring Genghis Vossoughi, et al[6] and directed by Rahim Zadeh E., which was awarded the best special effects category of the Fajr International Film Festival.
