Darrell James (James Darrell Coligado Laxamana), born in Manila, Philippines on April 8, 1973, is a Filipino Record Producer, Composer, Indie Artist, Actor, Model, Creative Director, Voice Talent, and a Sales and Marketing Entrepreneur.
Biography[edit]
James grew up in Pandacan, Manila and relocated at the age of 14 to Quezon City after his late grandfather, Col. Dominador Estacio Coligado died in 1987. He was employed at EMI Philippines in 1996 as an A&R (Artists & Repertoire), Record Producer, and Marketing Manager. In 2002, he was project manager for Fra Lippo Lippi’s album "In A Brilliant White".[1][2]
He resigned in 2003 to put up his own record label and company called E-C Mix Records Production & Management, a Digital Media Services Record Production Company and Direct Dealership Sales & Marketing entity for computers and electronic gadgets.
In 2010, he released his first self-produced solo independent album "Dahil Mahal Kita".[3] This album has been followed by "True" in 2011.
Darrell recorded and released two tracks in the late part of 2012 through his Official YouTube Channel. The first is a remake of a Christian Bautista original called "Kelan Kaya", which was also featured in one of the number one pop music radio stations in Manila by then 101.9FM (DWRR-FM) Tambayan Radio now called MOR 101.9FM. This song enjoyed over a million listeners as reached by the radio station and carried by the network of ABS-CBN throughout the world including internet streaming.[4] The second track is a remake of a Tagalog Christmas song originally done by Ariel Rivera called "Sana Ngayong Pasko". The song was rewritten with new lyrics and musically arranged for a fresher feel.[5]
His third and latest release, "Timeless" (2013) has been made available as a free download. All his solo albums were non-profit and was released independently through his own label E-C Mix Records.
In May 2014, E-C Mix Records started online digital distribution of Darrell James' singles primarily on iTunes and following numerous online digital music stores and music streaming channels, starting with an upbeat Tagalog single titled "Ikaw Lamang", then followed by "You Gonna Have (To Show It)" in September the same year.
