Dr. Darren J.Beattie graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in mathematics and economics. [2]After graduating from the University of Chicago, he worked as a law clerk at the Hudson Institute for Judge Robert Brok. Later he received his Ph.D. in Political Theory at Duke University. He finished his Ph.D. dissertation, Martin Heidegger's Mathematical Dialectic: Uncovering the Structure of Modernity,[3] in America and Germany.  Back in 2016, Dr. Darren J.Beattie was one of the signatories of Scholars and Writers for Trump. He was the only non-tenured professor who endorsed and correctly predicted Donald Trump's 2016 presidency in the country.

CNN Smear Campaign in 2018[edit]

After teaching for a year at Duke University, Dr. Darren J.Beattie joined the White House as a speechwriter for President Donald J. Trump in 2017. In August 2018, CNN’s KFile orchestrated a guilt-by-association smear campaign. The news report stated that before joining the administration, Dr. Beattie attended the H.L Mencken Club Conference in 2016 and was listed as an academic speaker.  Dr. Beattie delivered a stand-alone speech, Intelligentsia and The Right. [4]Soon he was ousted from the White House due to the social media smear campaign. And he was given no chance to appeal.

Tucker Carlson expressed his stance that Beattie shouldn’t be fired from the White House. Jack Kerwick wrote, [5]“From beginning to end, this story is a Big, Obese Lie. It is an unadulterated smear campaign designed to sabotage not Beattie but his former boss, President Trump. Beattie, who was low on the administration’s food chain, was simply another means to this end.”

Post White House Career[edit]

In April 2019, Congressman Matt Gaetz hired Dr. Beattie as a speechwriter consultant.

“Very proud to have the talented Dr. Darren Beattie helping our team as a Special Advisor for Speechwriting. Welcome on board!” Gaetz tweeted.[6]

His hiring received backlashes and smear attacks from the media.

In a response [7]op-ed published in the Washington Examiner, Beattie stated, “In 2016 I was a visiting professor at Duke University and the only nontenured full-time university faculty member in the entire nation to have publicly endorsed then-candidate Trump. Professor Paul Gottfried, a distinguished academic with whom I had had some scholarly correspondence, invited me to give a talk at the Mencken Club. Seeing as other academics whom I admire had spoken there in the past, including Charles Murray and Patrick Deneen, I said yes. I do not regret it. To be sure, there were a few in attendance who had expressed politically incorrect views, though nothing even as remotely as bizarre as the many outright communists I have attended conferences with throughout my career as an academic. Curiously, I have not been thereby smeared as having “ties to communists.”

According to an interview at The American Conservative,  Matt Gaetz Goes To Washington,[8]  Gaetz told the author, “Darren Beattie did nothing wrong.” And according to the article, “ Behind the scenes, Beattie is becoming a power player in policy, including his work on war and peace.”

Dr. Darren J. Beattie now served as a board member at the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad appointed by President Donald J. Trump at the Biden administration.[9]
