Darren Marquez (born August 31, 1985) is a professional gridiron football offensive lineman for the Wichita Force of Champions Indoor Football (CIF). He was signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2008. He played college football for the Southern Illinois Salukis. He currently is an assistant coach at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas during the offseason.
College career[edit]
Marquez played college football at Southern Illinois from 2005 through the 2007 season. While at SIU, Marquez was named honorable mention All-American and twice named all-conference pick. As an offensive lineman, he was a contributor to the school records set by the 2007 squad for the most points (530), touchdowns (70), passing yards (3,293) and wins (14) for a single season. He was also nominated for the all-century football team at SIU.[1]
Professional career[edit]
After going undrafted in the 2008 NFL Draft, Marquez signed with the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL).[2]
Colorado Ice[edit]
Marquez signed with the Colorado Ice during the 2012 offseason,[3] but was released on August 30, 2008.[4]
Wichita Wild[edit]
Marquez joined the Wichita Wild of the Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) in 2013, where he spent two seasons, winning two championships with the Wild.
Wichita Force[edit]
Marquez signed with the Wichita Force of Champions Indoor Football (CIF) in 2015. On September 29, 2015, he re-signed with the Force for 2016.
