Datahero, Inc. is a self-service cloud based business intelligence software company that specializes in easy to use data visualization and business intelligence. It was founded in 2011 in Palo Alto, CA and is currently based in Santa Monica, CA.[1]

History[edit]

Datahero, Inc. was founded in 2011 by tech industry veterans Chris Neumann[2] and Jeff Zabel to make it easy for anyone to visualize and understand their data.[3] Neumann was previously the first engineer at Aster Data Systems[4] while Zabel came from BMW where he designed user interfaces for third-party internet connected apps.[5]

In May 2012, the company raised $1 million[6] led by Foundry Group, with participation from Neu Venture Capital, Dave Kellogg, Tasso Argyros, Mayank Bawa, Mike Greenfield, and Jonathan Goldman.[7] The product officially launched to the public in April 2013[8] and the company was recognized a year later as the winner of the O'Reilly Media Strata Startup Showcase in 2014.[9] Following its early success, the company announced a Series A investment of $6.1 million from Foundry Group in May, 2015.[10] As part of the funding, industry veteran Ed Miller replaced Chris Neumann as CEO.[11]

In 2015, DataHero continued to cement itself as the leading provider of self-service cloud BI[12], announcing expanded integrations with leading marketing services providers Hubspot and Marketo[13]. In early 2016, DataHero was acquired by Portland-based Cloudability Inc.[14], a cloud computing cost management provider[15], where it continues to be operated separately.[16]

Products[edit]

DataHero is an online self-service business intelligence software platform that allows non-technical users to pull in their data and easily create charts and data visualizations[17]. The core technology consists of a data classification engine and pre-built connections to dozens of popular 3rd party cloud services[18]. The business intelligence platform focuses on providing tools to business users who are looking for insights from Software as a Service vendors[19] like Google AdWords[20], Salesforce[21], Hubspot[22], and Marketo[23].
