David Atrell Bowman (born 1992), better known by his stage name Dave B, is an American hip hop recording artist, singer-songwriter and record producer based in Seattle, Washington.[1][2] He is signed with Independent label Goodrich & Gold.[3]

Early life[edit]

David was born and raised in Renton, Washington, a city situated 11 miles (18 km) southeast of downtown Seattle, Washington. He attended the Lindbergh High School in Renton, Washington, where he played for the high school's basketball team and starred for the track and field team.[4][5] Bowman graduated from Lindbergh High School in 2010 at the age 18.[6]

He first began making music in 5th grade when he was involved in a musical theatre.[2] Dave taught himself to play the piano around this time. He was also interested in acting and dancing before addressing his focus upon music and further cultivated his musical aspirations.[2]

Artistry[edit]

Dave B is known for his eclectic sound mixing electropop, hip hop, indie pop, jazz, reggae, Contemporary R&B and soul. He has stated that he is influenced by hip hop musicians André 3000, Kanye West und Erykah Badu, by gospel singers Fred Hammond und Kirk Franklin, by jazzlegend Thelonious Monk and by rock mucician Jimi Hendrix.[1]
