David 'Dave' Ellis (born 12 July 1986) is a visually impaired British paratriathlete who competes in the PTVI classification. Ellis is a three-time ITU World and ETU European Champion based in Loughborough, England.[1]. He represented Great Britain in swimming at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, where he finished sixth in the 200m Individual Medley[2]. He was born in Derby, England.

Ellis has a strong swimming background having been a member of an elite training group in Derby when he was younger. He represented Great Britain in swimming at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, where his best result was sixth place in the 200m Individual Medley[2]. Ellis has less than 10% vision and races with a guide athlete in the PTVI category. He got into triathlon in 2013 after attending a Talent ID day[3] and went on to win gold at the Alanya ETU Triathlon European Championships[4], ITU World Triathlon Grand Final London[5] and GBR Paratriathlon National Championships[6] that year. The 2014 season saw Ellis's success continue with three gold medals at the Yokohama ITU World Paratriathlon Event[7], Iseo - Franciacorta ITU World Paratriathlon Event[8] and GBR Paratriathlon National Championships[9]. He also secured two silver medals at the London ITU World Paratriathlon Event[10] and Kitzbühel ETU Triathlon European Championships[11]. In 2015 Ellis learned that his visually impaired classification (PTVI) would be omitted from the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and he decided to focus on running.
Ellis returned to triathlon in 2017 and enjoyed a number of successes winning two gold and one silver medal at the Yokohama ITU World Paratriathlon Series[12], ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Rotterdam[13] and Edmonton ITU World Paratriathlon Series[14] to be crowned the 2017 ITU World Champion. He also won gold at the 2017 Kitzbühel ETU Triathlon European Championships[15]. 2018 was a golden year for him as he came first in all of the five events he competed in- Yokohama ITU World Paratriathlon Series[16], Eton Dorney ITU Paratriathlon World Cup[17], Iseo - Franciacorta ITU World Paratriathlon Series[18], Tartu ETU Triathlon European Championships[19], ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Gold Coast[20]. This success led to him winning both the 2018 European and World titles[21].
Ellis consistently made the podium throughout 2019, taking silver at the Milan ITU World Paratriathlon Series[22] and winning gold at the GBR Paratriathlon National Championships[23], the Groupe Copley World Paratriathlon Series Montreal[24], the Tokyo ITU Paratriathlon World Cup[25] and Funchal ITU Paratriathlon World Cup[26]. He finished the year with yet another silver medal in the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Lausanne[27]
