David Beasley
David Cyril Beasley (born 12 December 1940) is a Historical Author born in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, England. He married Ann Barbara Leaver on September 26 1970. His works include Wallingford at War, Wallingford Through Time and Wallingford: The Twentieth Century.
Early life[edit]
David was born in Wallingford, Oxfordshire to Cyril Douglas Beasley and Jean Lilian Beasley. His father, Cyril was in the Territorial Army before the Second World War and, at the outbreak of the war joined the Royal Berkshire Regiment he was wounded at the Dunkirk evacuation and was subsequently discharged. David has one sibling, Wendy Agnes May Beasley born in 1948. He went to primary school in Wallingford and secondary school at Didcot Boys.
Historian[edit]
David, who has lived in Wallingford all his life, became a well known local historian who began to write books to publish his knowledge. His books include Wallingford, The Twentieth Century, Window on Wallingford, Around Wallingford in old Photographs, Wallingford a History, Wallingford Through Time and Wallingford at War. He also presented many exhibitions and talks at various locations and for various groups.
