David Chang (Chinese: 张书铭; pinyin: zhāng shū míng) is a interior designer, founder of David Chang Design & Associates (DCDA), Principal Design Director, a member of SBID twelve membered expert committee also as the first expert member of Chinese descent, a registered member of NCIDQ, ASID and IIDA, has over 30 years of experience in luxury commerical, hotel and residential interior design and management experiences in North America and Asia.[1]
Biography[edit]
David Chang was born in Taipei and immigrated to Los Angeles with his parents at the age of 16 to receive high school education. Afterwards, he studied interior design at California State University and Kwantlen Polytechnic University in British Columbia, Canada. He also studied Green Energy Buildings and Sustainable Community Planning and Graduate Certificate in Visual Arts at Harvard University. Zhang Shuming, who is deeply influenced by Chinese and Western cultures, pays attention to drawing inspiration from culture and history, giving his works fresh vitality and rich artistic tension. In addition, David Chang insists that art, culture and history give soul to the design, emphasizing the comfort of indoor space use. Based on this design concept, David Chang's innovative works have won design awards in the UK, Italy and Canada for many times. And won the "Design Master" Lifetime Achievement Award issued by SBID British International Interior Design Association[2].
In 1998, David Chang founded David Chang Design Associates International (DCDA) in Vancouver, Canada, and expanded to the China market in 2006, established firms in Guangzhou, Beijing and Taiwan, to provide exclusive upscale design services on landmark projects for local top developers. The interior design and space planning projects encompass multiple fields such like luxury apartments, villas, sales and marketing centers, clubhouses, hotels, private bespoke homesand etc. Projects such as“Heritage Estate”, “Chinoiserie Villa”,“Runze Palace”,“Eminence Mansion”and“Shimao Xishan Loong Palace”, etc., have been listed as exemplary projects in the real estate industry.
