David J. Maloney

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

David Joseph Maloney is an American personal injury attorney.[1] He is a partner with the Alabama-based law firm of Maloney-Lyons, LLC.[2] He is best known for having been arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence, a charge that was later dropped.

Biography[edit]

In 2012, Maloney purchased a minority ownership interest in the professional minor league hockey team, the Pensacola Ice Flyers of the Southern Professional Hockey League.[3]

Maloney was stopped by an Escambia County sheriff deputy in May 2016 for speeding on Pensacola Beach. Maloney refused to submit to field sobriety and breath testing. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. That charge was later dropped on the grounds of insufficient evidence. His license, however, was suspended for one year for his refusal to submit to blood alcohol concentration testing. According to the Pensacola News Journal, "the irony of his DUI arrest drew a great deal of regional attention" because he previously had been best known for his tough-talking commercials against drunk driving.[1][2]
