David Maria Turoldo
David Maria Turoldo, born Giuseppe Turoldo (Coderno, November 22, 1916 - Milan, February 6, 1992), was an Italian Roman Catholic priest, theologian, philosopher, writer, poet and anti-fascist. He was a prophetic figure in the ecclesial and civil sphere. He is considered by some to be one of the most representative exponents of a change in Catholicism in the second half of the 20th century, which earned him the title of "restless consciousness of the Church".
Turoldo argued that ‘man cannot be fulfilled without silence and prayer.[1] What is most lacking in our time, in this civilisation, is the spirit of prayer.’ Furthermore ’it is a time without songs.
