David Penn is an Australian dental surgeon, inventor and entrepreneur.
Education and career[edit]
Penn received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Sydney University in 1978 and opened his first dental practice in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs upon graduation.[1][2]
Penn founded Southern Cross Dental Laboratories in 1983, a dental products supplier and educational institute. In 2013, he sold a majority of his stake in Southern Cross for AU$100m.[3][1][4][5]
In 2006, he published the book “A guide to Impressions, Implants and Indirect procedures” for use by undergraduate students and dentists.[6][7]
In 2015, he founded Penn College and faculty Post Graduate School of Dentistry.[7] In 2016, he founded Esthetic Orthodontic Company of America.[8][9]
Penn is an inventor of dental devices and products including Munchies and Penn Composite Stent.[10][11][12][13][14] For his work at Southern Cross Dental, Penn was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst and Young in 2011.[15][16]

He is married to Linda Penn (née Mueller) who is the managing director of Lowes-Manhattan Menswear[17][18]
