David Pollard Independent is a registered political party in the Australian Capital Territory. The party was established in April 2020 and registered on 28 July 2020.[1] The purpose of the party is for the Party Leader, David Pollard, to contest elections to the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly.
History and structure[edit]
David Pollard stood as an ungrouped Independent Candidate in the 2016 election to the ACT Legislative Assembly.[2] He received 2.4% of the primary vote.
In the leadup to the 2020 election to the ACT Legislative Assembly, David Pollard Independent registered as a political party in the Australian Capital Territory.
The party's inaugural Executive Committee consists of David Pollard as Party Leader and Secretary, as well as a Treasurer. The Constitution of the party provides that the term of the Party Leader is indefinite.
The membership of the party do not vote on motions, however upon election of a candidate, a mandatory constitution review will be triggered in which a more democratic approach to party matters will be implemented.
2020 election[edit]
In the 2020 Australian Capital Territory general election, the party is contesting the seat of Yerrabi. The lead candidate in the electorate is David Pollard.
