David Pollard Independent is a registered political party in the Australian Capital Territory. The party was established in April 2020 and registered on 28 July 2020.[1] The purpose of the party is for the Party Leader, David Pollard, to contest elections to the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly.
History and structure
David Pollard stood as an ungrouped Independent candidate in the 2016 election to the ACT Legislative Assembly.[2] He received 2.4% of the primary vote.
In the leadup to the 2020 election to the ACT Legislative Assembly, David Pollard Independent registered as a political party in the Australian Capital Territory.
The party's inaugural Executive Committee consists of David Pollard as Party Leader and Secretary, as well as a Treasurer. The Constitution of the party provides that the term of the Party Leader is indefinite.
The party's membership does not vote on motions; however, upon election of a candidate, a mandatory constitution review will be triggered, in which a more democratic approach to party matters will be implemented.
2020 election
In the 2020 Australian Capital Territory general election, the party is contesting the seat of Yerrabi. The lead candidate in the electorate is David Pollard.
