David Schwartz is an American computer scientist and the current Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Ripple, a blockchain technology company. Schwartz is a prominent figure in the blockchain industry and is widely recognized for his contributions to the development of the XRP Ledger.

Early life and education[edit]

David Schwartz was born in 1971 in the United States. He attended the University of Houston and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics in 1991. Schwartz continued his education at the University of Texas at Austin and earned a Master of Science degree in Computer Science in 1994.

Career[edit]

After completing his education, Schwartz worked at a number of technology companies before joining Ripple in 2013 as the company's Chief Cryptographer. In this role, Schwartz was responsible for designing and developing the XRP Ledger, which is the underlying technology that powers Ripple's digital currency, XRP.

Schwartz's contributions to the development of the XRP Ledger have been widely praised by industry experts. In particular, he is credited with creating the consensus algorithm that enables the XRP Ledger to process transactions quickly and securely.

In 2017, Schwartz was promoted to the position of Chief Technology Officer at Ripple. In this role, he oversees the company's technology strategy and works closely with other members of the executive team to ensure that Ripple remains at the forefront of blockchain innovation.
