David Stagnari

David Stagnari, is a writer/director music producer who began his artistic journey making 8mm, Super 8 and 16mm films as a child. After studying film at School of Visual Arts in New York City, David ventured into freelance writing for film and music magazines (Spin, Alternative Press, Reflex, Project X). During this time he began a long and successful career as an influential New York nightclub disc jockey known as DJ Slave. Slave was known for playing industrial techno dance music at famous NY clubs such as The Building, The Marquee, Sound Factory, Limelight, Webster Hall, Voodoo, and Caffeine. Slave's DJ career created other avenues of creativity including directing music videos, composing and producing alternative electronic dance music including music for the multi-platinum selling Mortal Kombat (film) movie soundtrack. Other music credits include writing, programming and producing two albums for the band Bile (band) as well as electronic dance music for Roadrunner Records. Stagnari returned to film-making spending four years writing, directing and producing the psychological film Catharsis which was featured in the Christopher Garetano documentary Horror Business. Stagnari recently worked five years shooting a documentary titled Autism Paints about a talented painter with autism who illegally created an art school inside an abandoned gas station for special needs children and war veterans.
